"Everyone was so warm and welcoming"

Claire was keen to get back onto the property ladder after renting a three bedroom house for a number of years. As her young family were all born in the area, she was pleased to learn that there was a Shared Ownership scheme available close to where they have grown up. She now owns a three bedroom, end-of-terrace property at our Spinnaker development, in the charming market town of Westbury.

"Both the size and location of the property guided me when I was looking for my new home.

“While I was keen to have a place that I could call my own, it was important to me to find a property in Westbury so my children could remain living in the same area that they’ve started to grow up in. We also have family connections to Westbury, Bath and the surrounding region, so it was important to remain in the area, so it’s easier for everyone to stay in touch.

“I now have a spacious three-bedroom end of terrace house that has a garage, a downstairs toilet and a garden for my dog to run around in. I have been permanently working from home since I’ve had my children, so it was also vital that I had a separate space to work in. The property brings in so much natural light in the kitchen and dining area and the open plan living is perfect for my family. We have met other residents on the development that attend the same school as the children, so we have made friends too."

“The beautiful location of the development means that I have plenty of green space around the Eden Vale Lake to walk my dog, but there are also bus stops and a train station close by. We are just around the corner from Westbury Sailing Club too, so we can’t wait to get involved there – the children are so excited!

“Another thing I was looking for was a new home that didn’t need any work doing to it. I wanted to be able to move straight in knowing that it would be ready for us. This is a solo venture for me and with the open market experiencing fluctuating prices, I was keen to find options that would work for my situation.

“I didn’t know what Shared Ownership was before I bought my Abri home. However, my sister had used it in the past and suggested it would be a good option for me. Having driven past Abri’s Spinnaker development a number of times before, it prompted me to look into their homes a little more, which is where I found details about Shared Ownership and the homes on the market at Spinnaker. After some research, I realised that this was ideal."

“I got in touch with Abri and the customer service was amazing. I was in contact with Gina who was there to answer every question I had – no question was too big or too small! Communication with Abri always moved along quickly, with every detail taken care of, and everyone was so warm and welcoming upon completion. With the £68,000 deposit I’d saved, I was able to buy a 75 per cent share of my £290,000 three-bedroom property at Spinnaker.

“Despite the fact that I didn’t view the specific house I am now living in, I was able to look around a showroom that was very similar in design and layout. I fell in love with everything about the development! It was from that moment that I knew I would love my Abri home and was so excited to move in. There are lots of exciting opportunities for my family now we’re settled in our Abri home and I’m looking forward to the future."
