Your Great British holiday at home
Summer is finally here, and the warmer weather could be the pick-me-up that we’ve all been waiting for. Even better, you don’t need to jet off abroad to make the most of it. Wherever you live, there are some great spots right here in the UK to enjoy the sunshine.
Hampshire, West Sussex and Dorset
Looking for a coastal destination? With days out at the seaside just minutes away, life in Hampshire or West Sussex always feels like a holiday. Some of our homes at Seafield View even offer a view of the water, so you could wake up to a seaside breeze. And, whether you're into paddleboarding, kayaking, or even windsurfing, there's something here for everyone.
If you’re looking to make your move to an apartment, Lindsay Oaks in Poole, Dorset benefits from having Branksome Beach just six minutes' drive away. This sandy beach has a long promenade, where you'll find restaurants, bars, and shops for your seaside goods. Further afield, Bournemouth hosts one of the most popular beaches in the UK.
Want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city? Tangmere's quaint village setting could be the perfect place to take a breather. Summer days in nearby Chichester's town centre are never dull, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to explore. Or, why not grab your sunnies and head down to West Wittering beach with the family? All of these spots will be on your doorstep with a new home at The Yews.
Bath and Bristol
A new home in Bristol could spice up your summer holiday. Ideal for first time buyers, our apartments at Coopers Court and The Old Brewery are set in the heart of a buzzing city, brimming with art and culture. With a range of pubs and restaurants to kick off your weekend, Friday afternoons just got better. You’ll also have a lively shopping outlet nearby, perfect for a spot of window shopping in the sun.
Eager for a more relaxing city break? Hop in the car and take a short trip to Bath, where you’ll find our new homes coming soon to Meryton Walk. This city in North Somerset is a popular filming location and is well known for its vibrant Georgian buildings. A fan of history? Visit Bath Abbey and take in its breathtaking seventeenth century architecture, or take a look around the Roman Baths – one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK. You’ll also have the Royal Victoria Park less than 15 minutes’ walk away, perfect for a picnic in the sun.
Have a blast at home
With so many great areas to explore in your local area, you'll be spoiled for choice. But what about the days you'll spend at home? Some of the best memories are made at home, and there are plenty of ways you could make your summer special. Plus, many of our new build houses benefit from spacious turfed back gardens and patio areas. So, you’ll have all the space you’ll need to have fun in the sun.
Who needs a poolside deckchair when you’ve got a paddling pool? A great way to keep cool in the sun, your own private pool will be your best friend on the days where the heat ramps up (fingers crossed!). Our gardens are also an ideal place to enjoy the sun with a barbecue. So invite your closest friends and family over, grab a selection of your favourite foods, watch them sizzle on the grill and serve them up with some salad and snacks.
If you’re itching to breathe some new life into your garden, a new set of furniture is a great way to refresh your outdoor space without breaking the bank. If you have a pergola, you’ll have a great bit of shade on a hot day, or set up some fairy lights and let your garden sparkle as the sun sets in the evening.
No garden? No problem – summer nights are often best enjoyed on an apartment balcony. Get your drinks of choice flowing and feel the airy summer breeze fill your home. There are some great cocktail and mocktail recipes out there, so experiment and find your next favourite mixer. Or, for a more relaxed vibe, wind down for the night with some furniture throws, decorative plants and a good book.
